Senior IAS officer Vijayashankar commits suicide in Bangalore.  Vijay Shankar, a former IAS officer who was formerly Bangalore district collector, has committed suicide on Tuesday. The body of Vijay Shankar was found hanging at his residence in Jayanagar.

One and a half crore rupees from IMA. He was arrested on July 8 last year on charges of bribery. The judge then handed him over to the judiciary.

Vijayashankar was placed as a trial inmate at the Agrahara prison in Parappana. The government suspended them from service following the arrest.

Shortly afterwards, the SIT team took home two and a half crore rupees. Cash was seized. This included the bribe paid by Mohammed Mansour Khan, the mastermind of the IMA scam. The rest of the money was received by others in the form of bribes, police said.

He was convicted in the IMA Jewelery case. He was jailed for the same case and later released on bail. Police said they surrendered to the hanger at their residence today.
